Superstitions with Chuparosa

Description

Just a few this evening; I'm out of time, and have other plans for later.

Chuparosa (Beloperone californica, Justica californica) is a favorite of hummingbirds. The Superstition Mountains are west of Phoenix. I think they are some of the most photogenic mountains in the state, and the wildflower season has made them even more gorgeous. I think this is the prettiest face, and it is in the Lost Dutchman Mine State Park.

There is a story that the famous southwestern artist Ted deGrazia hid some of his paintings in the area of the Lost Dutchman mine. Of course, if I asked him about it, he wouldn't tell me anything. Apparently, he was better able to do this because he knew the Native Americans well, and they respected him. So he was able to learn of more secret places. Lots of people have looked for the paintings with no success.

Have you ever noticed when driving by the Superstitions that they seem to never end?
