Some of us who are photographers are keenly aware that we would accomplish nothing if it were not for two gifts from God: beautiful scenery, and light. This photo illustrates this graphically. I didn't supply the phenomenal canyon, and I didn't supply the light. Being there at the right time was an "accident". All I did was aim my camera (which involves a knowledge of composition, 'tis true, and a knowledge of camera, lenses, and film) and operate the shutter. Even my gift as a photographer is exactly that: a gift. Not everyone can go to such a beautiful place. I do photography for the people who cannot, so that you may share in what I was able to see and capture.
This is a "re-do" of Let There Be Light - Antelope Canyon. I used a different shot, with the viewpoint placed lower, to give more foreground, which removed the ambiguous light at the top of the picture, on the suggestion of another deviant (see below). I had it made into an 8x12 GLOSSY print, to eliminate "sparkles" and "dust" from the matte finish. I rescanned it at high resolution. I have cleaned up all the dust and scratches that my scanner graciously provided (it was a lot of work). It is, in my opinion, a better picture. Some of you have placed the other image on your wishlist, and I promised to provide you with a better one. You may wish for either one which appeals to you; this one will be available in larger size prints. Thank you so much for your support, and I hope you enjoy this new version.
Edit: A gazillion thanks to for featuring this as a DD! I am overwhelmed! And thank you to all who visit, and comment, and favor it! I have been reminded that it was who offered the critique that resulted in my posting this newer version, and I want to convey my deepest gratitude to him and to his wife for letting me know!
