Artist's Comments

Located in Phoenix, Arizona. Phoenix has a Japanese sister city (I don't remember which one), and this garden was made and landscaped by that city.

I wrote your name on a piece of paper, but by
accident I threw it away I wrote your name on my
hand, but it washed away. I wrote your name in the
sand, but the waves whispered it away. I wrote your
name in my heart, and forever it will stay.

It will be well worth your while to take a look. I asked around a lot if there was a Japanese garden in Phoenix before I found this one. I think it was on 3rd, but I don't remember whether it was avenue or street. It's a bit hard to find. I could find it again, but I don't remember well enough to give specific instructions. I'd like to go back and photograph the garden behind the teahouse. Maybe in the spring.

Thanks so much, both for the kind comments and the link. Eight seems incredible. I know Tucson has a sister city, Alma Ata, in the former Soviet Union (which got renamed to Almaty). But I don't know if she has any others. I should try to find out. It's an interesting custom. I just looked. Tucson has eight, too! Wow!
