On my trip to photograph hummingbirds, I drove toward Sonoita, Arizona, and then for awhile toward Parker Canyon Lake. There were small stands of these blanket flowers here and there. Gaillardia pulchella.

The leaf hairs of some of these species can cause skin irritation. These are diuretic plants, usually grown as ornamentals. I think the name comes from the fact the colors resemble an Indian blanket.
